When designing this deck, the artist knew she wanted to combine fantasy aspects, current fashion, diversity, breaking out from the conventional gender binary, and whimsy. She went to Instagram to solicit models for the deck, ensuring that she included actual, varied bodies. The end effect is breathtaking. Although the classic tarot framework has been preserved, the pictures are devoid of gender, allowing the reader to concentrate on the duality of receptive and outward energy. This deck, created via a Kickstarter campaign by alternative designer and artist Sam West, presents a one-of-a-kind, hands-on instruction to the craft of ritual-making in the secular era. Rainbow Moon Tarot, although intended for serious readings, also reminds us that it is appropriate to grin and enjoy the cards. A 4 3/4" x 7" box containing 78 playing cards and a booklet.
